Poly Gay Fic

So, I rounded up a short list of gay polyamory fiction, but to be honest I didn’t have to try that hard. I’d say it took nearly three hours to gather the lesbian polyamory fic/pics list at the beginning of the month, this list took less than an hour. Not too surprising when the Goodreads Best Gay Polyamory Romance list has over 300 items. So all in all, if you can’t find anything you like on this list, just dig around a bit, I’m sure you’ll find something!

Evergreen by Racheline Maltese

Misfits by Garrett Leigh

The Forgotten Prince by Kelex, description notes two men from a “Triad” being sent to find the prince who is their destined mate. Destined mate stories usually hit coercion/rape notes so read with caution.

Above the Dungeon by SM Johnson, as the name implies, BDSM themed. M/m/m.

Beyond Complicated by Mercy Celeste, based on the description and several reviews, involves consensual adult incest.

The Scientific Method series by Chris Ripper Another BDSM themed, starts off F/m, moves to M/m, and ends up M/M/m by book 4.

Tales of the Thessali Harem series by Danielle Summers tagged gay fourway sex

Lone Wolf Chronicles by Alastair Anders gay shifter romance, tagged polyamory and orgies

LOL! Yeah, there’s some hot stuff out there. Enjoy!

You can find me on Goodreads if you want (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6981307.Jessica_Burde) though I’m not very active there these days. Hopefully that will change as life settles down and the depression recedes.

This is nice but it gets frustrating as a gay man when I keep seeing female authors in our genre. I can count on one hand the number of male authors I’ve seen in wlw fiction lists, so why shouldn’t we hold female authors to the same standard?
I hate to say it, but I can tell when a woman’s writing mlm because it reads different. Just like how wlw can tell when a man’s writing lesbians because the writing remains just the slightest bit off, like some weird facsimile of queerness.
Why can’t queer male spaces be for queer men (and queer trans-masc enbies) only? Why can’t we have our own spaces and our own literatures?

Understandable. I wasn’t aware of that issue when I wrote this post, but I’ve learned more since then. What makes it worse is how many women authors are taking men’s names as pseudonyms so even when you are actively looking for male authors it’s hard to find them.

I’ve heard from a few women authors of mlm why they do so, there seem to be two strains of thought — some of them like how queer romance lets them fuck with gender roles and genre tropes, but know they won’t get any kind of traction writing wlw (straight women will read mlm, but never wlw). Some are just objectifying assholes. Either way I expect it’s kind of like lesbian porn — even if it is made with the best of intentions, when it’s made by men, it never looks right. And probably for the same reason — all the women authors of mlm I know are presuming an audience of straight women because ‘men don’t read romance!’ Gah.

Probably later this week, I’ll go through my reading archives and a few other places and see if I can update this list with some more stuff by men.
